The UAE has unveiled 'TM Market Place', a pioneering platform for trademark trading. This move aims to unlock the economic potential of intangible assets and boost the country's investment climate, with a projected 20% market growth in the first year.

UAE Launches First Digital Trademark Marketplace

The Ministry of Economy and Tourism has launched the 'TM Market Place' platform, the UAE's first digital marketplace for buying and selling trademarks. This unique initiative enables owners of trademarks registered in the UAE to list and trade them in a secure and transparent environment, connecting them with investors and entrepreneurs. The platform aims to transform intangible business assets into a strategic economic resource that supports innovation and sustainable development. 'Through this platform, we look forward to achieving a significant leap in the country’s trademark sector and increasing the market’s attractiveness to brands by up to 20 per cent within the first year of operation,' stated H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism. The platform will be operational from its launch day, with all transactions conducted in strict compliance with intellectual property laws. This will protect the rights of trademark owners and enhance transparency and security in all deals. 'The platform’s launch is a crucial milestone in supporting the UAE’s efforts to enable intangible business assets, allowing them to obtain fair financial valuation that reflects their true worth,' added H.E. Bin Touq. This initiative is part of broader national efforts to develop the intellectual property environment, which have already led to a 129% growth in trademark registrations in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year. The platform, developed by the UAE Government Leaders Programme, targets a 20% growth in the number of trademarks within its first year.
