Tomorrow, the whole world marks the Universal Day of Human Brotherhood, which was established by the United Nations General Assembly to commemorate the historical event – the signing of His Excellency the Grand Imam Doctor Ahmed at-Tayeb, the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar, and His Holiness Pope Francis, the Pope of Rome, the document "Human Brotherhood" on February 4, 2019, in Abu Dhabi. The world marks this day to promote strengthening the principles of tolerance and unity among people, and also to spread the values of coexistence and acceptance of one another.
In connection with this event, next Wednesday in the UAE starts the fifth session of the World Conference on Tolerance and Human Brotherhood, organized by the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence in cooperation with the Muslim Council of Elders and the Zayed Prize for Human Brotherhood under the motto "Peace, Human Dignity and Global Coexistence" with the participation of prominent figures from the UN, other countries, and Arab states.
The Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, stated: "We, the people of the UAE, take pride that the declaration of the Organization of the United Nations for the Universal Day of Human Brotherhood, held by the Universal Forum of Brotherhood and the organization of the Festival of Human Brotherhood – this is the fruit of years of efforts to unite the world around the principles of the document on human brotherhood, which is to become the beginning of significant global work for humanity everywhere."
The document "Human Brotherhood," signed several years ago, served as a starting point for many international initiatives from the UAE side, which are dedicated to the propaganda of tolerance and coexistence among all religions.
The Zayed Prize for Human Brotherhood, since its inception, has become one of the most important initiatives of the UAE aimed at spreading and strengthening the values of tolerance and human coexistence. The prize carries a special symbolism, linked to the name of its founder, the great-hearted ruler, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God bless him, and emphasizes his role in deepening principles related to strengthening tolerance and global coexistence throughout the world.
