
The Arab International Prize for the Novel announced yesterday its shortlist for its 18th edition, which includes the following works: "Danishend" by Ahmed Fala Ed-Dina, "Dolina babochek" by Azkhara Hergisa, "Andalusian Christ" by Teisira Khalefa, "Women's Agreement" by Haneen As-Saig, "Prayer of the Three" by Mukhammeda Samira Nada, "Oblik sveta" by Nadiia Al-Nadzhara. The winner will be announced on April 24 in Abu Dhabi.
Chair of the jury Monika Beiker noted that the works included in the shortlist emphasize human aspects of the main characters. The president of the Literary Council, Yaser Suleiman, pointed out that the shortlisted works invite readers to enjoy the diversity of themes, mastery of styles, and variety of voices, as well as a wide demographic scope.
The Arab International Prize for the Novel is an annual award dedicated to creativity in Arabic literature. The prize for the winning novel amounts to 50,000 dollars and is supported by the Center for the Arabic Language in Abu Dhabi, under the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi.
The aim of the prize is to promote quality in contemporary Arabic literature and to increase interest in it at the international level through the translation and publication of winning works into other leading languages.
