
The Emirates Writers Union announced the launch of the 16th cycle of the Ghanem Ghabash Award for the short story. The award was established in 1989 and aims to enhance the spirit of creative storytelling and promote the role of the Arabic language in literature. The award bears the name of the late writer and novelist Ghanem Ghabash in appreciation of his contributions. The Deputy Chairman of the Union's Management Council, Sheikha Al-Jaberi, emphasized the importance of the award in encouraging young talents to contribute to the Emirati cultural scene.
The award is considered a platform for young writers to shine on the cultural scene in the UAE. The union also announced a new branch of the award called 'The Short Story Collection,' which provides an opportunity for participation in this literary challenge for those writing in this genre.
Sheikha Al-Jaberi pointed out that literary competitions in the United Arab Emirates play a vital role in motivating youth and innovators to enrich the cultural scene with their creative ideas. She also affirmed the Union's keenness on the continuity of intellectual and cultural projects and to evaluate the best in this field.
