The Great Al-Mugheera Fishing Championship for women commenced with 105 participants from 12 nationalities, highlighting women's growing involvement in marine sports in Abu Dhabi.

Yesterday, the Great Mugheera Tournament for fishing coral trout among women started with the support of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representing the government in the Al Dhafra region. The event is organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Agency, the Sports Council of Abu Dhabi, and the Abu Dhabi Club for Water Sports. A total of 105 participants from 12 countries participated in the competitions.

The tournament began with three main stages, in which 64 participants from Abu Dhabi, 18 from the port, and 23 from the Dalma islands took part. The competitions progressed in a healthy competitive atmosphere, contributing to increased female participation in marine sports. The Abu Dhabi Sports Council noted that the tournament reflects the commitment of the United Arab Emirates to support the empowerment of women and strengthen their presence in various fields, including traditional and marine sports.

This tournament has become one of the stages of the Abu Dhabi Great Competitions for fishing coral trout in the 2024-2025 season, with a total prize fund exceeding 800 thousand dirhams. The winner of the first place will receive 150 thousand dirhams, the second place – 100 thousand, and the third – 50 thousand.
