The exhibition delves into the deep spiritual and cultural meanings of the nightingale in Persian and South Asian traditions, where its song becomes a metaphorical expression of humanity's search for freedom, evolution, and union with the sublime.

Akash Odedra said: "This work is a dedication to my mother Kay, who was my smiling nightingale and my source of strength. Through this story, I explore the profound meaning of deep love and complete self-giving. The legend of the nightingale holds great wisdom, and presenting this story allows me to share a part of my journey with the audience."

The Arts Center at New York University Abu Dhabi, in partnership with the Bajri Foundation, announces the new exhibition "Songs of the Nightingale" by award-winning designer Akash Odedra, to be held on the 18th on the Red Stage.

Odedra combines the beauty of traditional Kathak dance with contemporary movements, choreographed in collaboration with Kathak artist Rani Khanum. The exhibition also features original musical compositions composed by London-based composer Rushelle Ranjan, the artistic director of the orchestral project Qawwali and one of the creative partners of the world-renowned Manchester Camerata orchestra.

This creative work is inspired by an ancient Sufi legend and tells the story of a nightingale caught in a trap. As its end approaches, the nightingale sings its most beautiful song, revealing the essence of sacrifice and liberation, and highlighting the concept of absolute freedom.

This work is a dedication to my mother "Kay," who was my smiling nightingale and my source of strength."
