Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi has announced a national short film competition, inviting students from across the United Arab Emirates to envision the role of artificial intelligence in shaping the university's future and its impact on students and society over the next 20 years. Amidst e-learning, the initiative provides an interactive platform enabling students to develop their creative and digital skills, as well as critical thinking, while continuing their education remotely. Titled '20 Years, 20 Visions: Envisioning Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi's Future in the Age of AI,' the initiative is part of the 2026 AI Year events and the university's 20th-anniversary celebrations. The competition is open to high school students in grades 10-12 and undergraduate students from all majors, calling on participants to create original three-minute films to highlight the university's journey, impact, and future in AI and innovation. Professor Nathalie Martial-Braz, Director of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, stated: 'Under the 2026 AI Year, the university is working to enhance efforts to integrate AI into education, research, and creative disciplines. This new competition encourages students to envision the university's evolution and future in an AI-driven world, while also discussing the ethical, cultural, and societal dimensions of new technologies.' Registration and submission of entries will be open until June 8th.
