The UAE's minister stated that the 16th session of the IRENA General Assembly highlights the country's global standing in renewable energy. As a world leader, the UAE implements projects in over 75 countries and aims to triple green energy production by 2030, in line with the agreement reached at COP28.

Dr. Amena bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, stated that the proceedings of the sixteenth session of the General Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), founded in Abu Dhabi in 2009, reflect the global standing of the United Arab Emirates in the renewable energy sector. She noted that the General Assembly hosts more than 1,500 participants from various countries worldwide. Amena Al Dahak confirmed that the UAE is always keen to support renewable energy initiatives, especially in light of the outcomes of the COP28 conference, which resulted in the historic UAE agreement. One of its most prominent outcomes is the agreement to triple renewable energy production by 2030. She explained that these meetings directly contribute to supporting this direction and accelerating the achievement of global targets in this field. She also highlighted that the UAE is one of the world's leading countries in renewable energy, implementing projects and operating in over 75 countries worldwide. The Emirates continue to be pioneers in developing and producing clean energy, as well as in implementing projects and spreading renewable energy solutions across different nations. She clarified that holding these meetings is part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which brings together a elite of global innovators and leading companies to showcase the latest innovations in the renewable energy sector and highlight the pivotal role of this sector in supporting global climate action. Amena Al Dahak affirmed that the UAE places climate action at the forefront of its national agenda, emphasizing that achieving these goals requires diversifying energy sources and expanding reliance on renewables, while also confirming the UAE's support for international efforts to achieve national and global targets in climate action and energy transition.
