The Sail GP series has announced that the "Emirates GBR" team has won the Impact League title for the 2025 season for the second consecutive year. This is in recognition of the team's efforts on social and environmental impact, as well as its sporting performance.
The Impact League is a leading initiative in the world of sports, evaluating team achievements against four key pillars: climate action, waste reduction, accelerating inclusion and diversity, and developing initiatives that go beyond traditional boundaries.
After evaluating 48 projects submitted by the participating teams, with the involvement of 20 judges and 114 hours of assessment, the Great Britain team was deservedly crowned champion.
As the final of the Abu Dhabi Sail GP Grand Prix 2025, scheduled for November 29-30 and supported by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, approaches, the "Emirates GBR" team enters the competitions at the top of the overall standings with a historic chance to become the first team to win both the sports trophy and the Impact League trophy in the same season.
This global event includes fleet races with 12 boats competing over two days, before the event winner is announced and final points are calculated to determine the three teams that advance to the decisive final, which has a prize fund of two million dollars.
The CEO and Partner of the "Emirates GBR" team, Sir Ben Ainslie, expressed his pride in the consecutive victory and said: "I am incredibly proud of the team for winning the Impact League title for the second year in a row. Each season, we work on implementing projects that make a real difference, and this year we succeeded in achieving impactful results both on and off the water. We expanded educational partnerships and inclusion programs, launched new initiatives to support youth and raise environmental awareness, and this consecutive win is a testament to the team's firm commitment to making a positive impact."
