Al-Jazira regained their balance after three winless rounds, defeating Al-Khaleej 2-1 on Friday at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, as part of the 16th round of the Pro League. Al-Jazira raised their points tally to 25, placing them fifth, while Al-Khaleej's points remained frozen at 16, keeping them eleventh and close to the relegation zone. Al-Khaleej took an early lead through Iranian Shahryar Mughanloo, who capitalized on a pass from his compatriot Saman Guedous following a mistake by Abdullah Ramadan, placing the ball to the left of goalkeeper Ali Khasif (4). Al-Jazira intensified their search for an equalizer but were met with the brilliance of Al-Khaleej's goalkeeper Hamad Al-Mansouri, who saved several dangerous attempts, ending the first half with the visitors leading 1-0. In the second half, Al-Jazira managed to equalize through Abdoulaye Traore, who followed up a cross by Brazilian Vinicius Melo and slotted the ball into the net (46). The home side continued their dominance and snatched the winning goal with a header from Simon Banza, who converted a corner kick taken by Frenchman Nabil Fekir (77). Brazilian Bruno de Oliveira almost extended Al-Jazira's lead but wasted a clear-cut opportunity, shooting the rebound over the bar despite the goal being empty.
