Defender Ajman Club's Abdelrahman Rakan revealed that he decided at the beginning of Ramadan to experience the month in a different spirit, combining sports commitment with humanitarian duty, by engaging in the 'Caravans of Good' initiatives. He contributed to preparing and setting up iftar tables and participated in distributing meals before the Maghrib call to prayer. He told 'Al-Ittihad' that he helps arrange tables, prepare water bottles and dates, and ensure the meals are ready. Rakan said Ramadan represents a significant opportunity for self-discipline and distancing from the hustle and pressures of daily life. He added, 'Ramadan is a spiritual school that gives us a chance to reflect on ourselves and prioritize away from other human affairs.' He also noted that football players have a major influence on society, which multiplies their responsibility towards humanitarian initiatives. Rakan sends a message to the youth, especially football players, that talent alone is not enough, and investing in education opens wider future prospects, both on and off the field. Abdelrahman Rakan (26) is tied to the club with a contract until the summer of 2027. He believes an athlete is a role model for the youth, and his participation in the 'Caravans of Good' is a practical message confirming that true stardom is only complete through giving back and serving the community. 'For me, charitable deeds come before anything else in my life, even football,' he said. 'I make sure to perform the night prayers and the dawn prayer on time and inside mosques, even if I'm exhausted from training and matches. This month gives me a different energy and makes me more committed and disciplined on and off the field.' Abdelrahman considers the real victory not just in securing points on the field, but in winning a sincere thank you from a fasting person at an iftar table. Abdelrahman Rakan's story is not limited to his sporting excellence and volunteer work. Last October, he was awarded a bachelor's degree in engineering after years of struggle, successfully balancing study halls, training pitches, and travel for matches.
