Michelle Yaat took her position as the Minister of Energy and Water in the Lebanese Government. Officially, her resignation comes due to the economic conditions in the country and her assessment that the sector requires significant effort to overcome the challenges.
Yaat said in a press statement: "I have worked as a minister to achieve stability in the energy and water sector, and I have not spared any effort in earnest work in this field. However, the major challenges we face require the concerted efforts of everyone to advance the country."
This resignation comes amid a suffocating economic crisis that Lebanon is suffering from, alongside the decline of the local currency, rising inflation, and the decrease in purchasing power for citizens.
