
The first meeting of the National Team for Data Processing Centers Analysis in the energy sector took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in Dubai. The conference was dedicated to studying the development of data processing centers in the UAE and their impact on the local energy sector. During the meeting, issues that data processing centers face were discussed, ways to make them more sustainable, and the importance of adopting global best practices to ensure the effective operation of these centers.
Participants in the meeting included His Excellency the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Engineer Sharif Al Ulaama, Deputy Minister for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, His Excellency Engineer Saif Ghabash, Deputy Minister for Oil, Gas and Mineral Resources, as well as other members of the team, which included representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technologies, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, the Office of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work, Abu Dhabi Digital Authority, Dubai Digital Authority, Sharjah Digital Authority, Ajman Digital Department, Ras Al Khaimah Digital Authority, Umm Al-Quwain Digital Department, and Fujairah Digital Authority.
The National Team plans to analyze the impact of data processing centers on energy consumption, assess market conditions and forecast economic income for this key sector, identify all data processing centers in the country, and classify them in accordance with specific standards, conduct geographic studies on the distribution of current and future data processing centers in the country to ensure an optimal infrastructure distribution, perform a comparative analysis to study advanced global practices in the field of data processing centers, and work on the development of a federal policy aimed at regulating the work of local data processing centers.
During the meeting, Engineer Al Ulaama emphasized the importance of cooperation among team members to achieve objectives, including adopting innovative solutions to reduce energy consumption and improve the operational efficiency of data processing centers. He noted that the establishment of the National Team for Data Processing Centers Analysis in the energy sector is part of the country’s strategic directions in the field of digital transformation and enhancing sustainability in the energy sector. It is expected that this will contribute to the development of policies and regulations that support the sustainability of the sector and maintain the competitiveness of the UAE in the field of digital infrastructure.
