New High-Performance Cooling Facility to Open in Dubai

Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) has signed an agreement with German technology group Allied Heat Exchange AG (A-HEAT) to develop the largest heat exchanger production facility in the GCC. The state-of-the-art facility, to be established in Jafza, will cater to the growing demand for energy-efficient cooling solutions, especially for data centers requiring advanced thermal management for improved operational efficiency and sustainability.

The facility, spanning 1.2 million square feet with a built-up area of 400,000 square feet, will be situated within DP World's flagship free zone, Jafza, and operated by Güntner, A-HEAT’s flagship brand. Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC, highlighted the significance of the agreement, stating that it reflects Jafza’s commitment to driving innovation and sustainable industrial growth.

A-HEAT is actively expanding its global presence, with production facilities spread over four continents and offices in more than 34 countries. The company aims to provide high-performance cooling solutions to key markets worldwide, especially in the realm of IT infrastructure where cooling stands out as a significant power-consuming element. Advanced heat exchangers are crucial for boosting efficiency and curbing energy consumption in such sectors.

Through this collaboration with DP World and Jafza, A-HEAT strengthens its position as a leader in the heat exchange industry, underlined by its dedication to offering cutting-edge and energy-efficient cooling solutions. The agreement comes as part of the World Government Summit in Dubai, in the presence of key industry figures and executives, solidifying the commitment to innovation and excellence in thermal management solutions.

Güntner, with a rich history dating back to 1931 in Munich, is poised to manufacture its most advanced heat exchangers at the new facility, utilizing natural refrigerants like CO₂ and ammonia for efficient cooling. The innovative aicore™ smart control solutions, part of the production line, promise to optimize cooling systems by dynamically adjusting operations to reduce energy consumption by up to 30%.

A-HEAT's strategic move to localize production at the Jafza facility is aimed at enhancing supply chain efficiencies, ensuring swift and flexible deliveries across the GCC, India, China, Africa, and Asia. The focus on implementing sustainable practices is evident through the hydroBLU™ technology, enhancing efficiency by leveraging the natural cooling effect of evaporation and balancing water and electricity usage, resulting in a potential 90% reduction in water consumption.

Hubert Spegel, Executive Board Member at A-Heat, emphasized that this milestone reinforces the commitment to the Middle East and global markets, integrating innovative solutions and sustainable practices into the operational framework. Such initiatives align with Dubai's economic strategies and initiatives, aiming to position the UAE as a hub for industrial innovations and excellence.
