The Department of Land and Real Estate in Dubai announced that it has established a mechanism for the regular increase of rent in accordance with notifications provided by the landlord. This regulation comes into effect on June 9, 2022.
As part of this new initiative, if the tenant notifies about the rent increase 90 days before the contract expiration, the increase should not exceed 5% of the current rental rate. If the notification is provided 30 days in advance, the increase should not exceed 10%.
In this regard, the Department emphasized the need to ensure stability for all parties – both for landlords and tenants. This initiative aims to balance interests and improve relationships between the parties involved in the rental real estate market in Dubai.
Special attention is given to adherence to the principles of fairness and predictability in the rental real estate market to create clearer conditions for all market participants.
