Gavin Maguire stated that the undefined description of bioenergy as a source of clean energy has contributed to its widespread dissemination in global energy systems in recent years. Bioenergy is often used as an alternative to coal in countries aimed at reducing the use of fossil fuels for energy production. Since it primarily uses agricultural residues as the main source of biomass in large energy stations, the continuous growth of the energy capacity of these stations leads to the depletion of organic materials, known as biomass, for energy production. Typically, bioenergy stations are classified alongside solar energy, wind energy, and hydropower as forms of renewable energy.
