The airline flydubai has announced the leasing of four Boeing 737-800 aircraft for the next decade, which were scheduled for return to their lessors. Currently, the airline's orders consist of 127 Boeing 737s, which will be delivered over the next decade, as well as 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, starting in 2027. This is the first order of wide-body aircraft totaling 11 billion US dollars.
flydubai has committed to supporting the strategic initiative of the UN UAE for achieving net zero emissions by 2050. In recent upgrades, the airline was recognized as the "Airline with the Best Connectivity in the Middle East" at the "Business Traveller Middle East Awards" and won the "Innovation in Aviation" award for its "Exceptional products and services".
Gaith Al Gaith, the CEO of flydubai, stated plans for 2025: "We anticipate another positive year in which we have laid solid foundations for further growth. The new record was set thanks to the strengths of flydubai's diverse network, as well as its stable and flexible business model".
In the 2024 report, flydubai announced a record revenue of 2.5 billion dirhams (674 million US dollars) tax payments and an increase in annual performance of 15%, reaching 12.8 billion dirhams (3.5 billion US dollars). The airline transported 15.4 million passengers, which is 11% more than in 2023, and cemented its position as the second-largest carrier operating from DXB, increasing capacity to 44,503 million (ASKM).
In 2024, flydubai received a "Four-Star" rating from APEX, reflecting the development of its business model over the years. Business class offerings continued to attract more customers, posting an 18% increase in usage across the network, transporting nearly half a million more passengers in 2024.
Notably, in 2024, flydubai established partnerships with new airlines to expand its network – as a result, new cooperation agreements were signed with Batik Air, Condor, and SriLankan Airlines.
Finally, it is important to emphasize that a crucial component of flydubai's success is strategic planning and investments in technology to support sustainability and enhance the passenger experience.
