Dubai Chamber Enhances Business Group Role

Dubai Chamber of Commerce, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, recently hosted its first quarterly roundtable meeting of Business Groups and Business Councils for 2025 at its headquarters. The chamber is committed to enhancing the role of Business Groups in developing the local legislative landscape and strengthening the private sector's participation in supporting Dubai's economy.

The meeting explored the current and future economic landscape in Dubai, highlighting emerging opportunities in diverse sectors and showcased the chamber's various initiatives to support the interests of the local private sector. Participants were briefed on Dubai Chamber of Commerce's achievements in 2024, reflecting the emirate's strong economic momentum.

During 2024, the chamber reviewed 107 laws and draft laws in collaboration with Business Groups, with the private sector's recommendations achieving an adoption rate of 58%. The chamber coordinated 27 meetings bringing together Business Groups, Business Councils, and key government entities.

Furthermore, the chamber is keen on establishing a supportive environment for growth that reinforces Dubai's position as a leading global business hub. Nine new Business Councils were established in 2024 to represent the interests of investors from various countries.

Maha Al Gargawi, Vice President of Business Advocacy at Dubai Chambers, emphasized the vital role of Business Groups and Councils in enhancing Dubai's investment appeal and fostering a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and best practices implementation. She also highlighted the significant contribution of these entities to strengthening commercial partnerships, expanding collaboration between the public and private sectors, and supporting economic growth.

The strategic priority for Dubai Chamber of Commerce remains advancing the interests of the business community and facilitating dialogue between stakeholders and government entities to improve Dubai's business environment. Last year, the total value of exports and re-exports by the chamber's members reached record levels, supported by an increase in the number of active members and the registration of over 70,000 new companies.

In conclusion, the initiatives undertaken by Dubai Chamber of Commerce aim to support the business community and enhance the efficiency of the local legislative and regulatory environment across all sectors. Annual general meetings and a total of 177 meetings were held with Business Groups and Councils to ensure the active participation and contribution of the private sector in Dubai's economic growth.
