
Bangladeshi citizens constitute one of the largest expatriate communities in the UAE, accounting for 17% of the total number of expatriate workers from Bangladesh, making the UAE the second largest destination after Saudi Arabia. This was stated by Taskeen Ahmed.
The volume of non-oil trade between Dubai and Bangladesh reached AED 5.1 billion in the first nine months of 2024, reflecting an annual growth of 23.4%. The number of Bangladeshi companies registered as active members of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce reached 8,686 by the end of 2024, showing annual growth of 19%.
Dubai Chambers successfully organized the Dubai-Bangladesh Business Briefing aimed at strengthening bilateral economic and investment relations, fostering cooperation between business communities of both countries in key sectors and supporting mutual trade growth. Within the framework of the event, an Agreement on Mutual Cooperation between the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry was signed. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah emphasized that the goal is to further strengthen cooperation between the business communities of Dubai and Bangladesh for expanding partnerships and achieving common developmental goals.
As noted by Taskeen Ahmed, Dubai's strategic location serves as a key gateway for Bangladeshi companies to access the growing halal goods market in the region. The number of Bangladeshi companies registered as active members of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce reached 8,686 members by the end of 2024, showing annual growth of 19%. During the forum, Dubai Chambers presented an overview of numerous investment opportunities in Dubai for the Bangladeshi business community.
With a specific focus on sectors such as logistics and warehousing, real estate, medical tourism, software development, and innovations in mobile applications. The presented overview highlighted key areas of opportunities for companies from Dubai exporting to Bangladesh, such as organic chemical production, honey production, rubber, and leather.
Taskeen Ahmed, president of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that Bangladeshi citizens constitute one of the largest expatriate communities in the UAE, accounting for 17% of the total number of expatriate workers from Bangladesh, also noting the growth of trade between Bangladesh and the UAE in the amount of nearly 2 billion dollars in the financial year 2024 with sustained growth.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, president and executive director of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, and Taskeen Ahmed, president of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah stated: "The Dubai Chamber of Commerce strives to provide comprehensive support to businesses and investors from Bangladesh to help them expand their businesses in Dubai and leverage the emirate's competitive advantages."
