Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has initiated a project to enhance the management of the emirate's traffic lights through the use of artificial intelligence (AI). The new system, known as UTC-UX Fusion, is designed to predict future traffic conditions and optimize signal timing in advance for the anticipated traffic flow. This advanced traffic signal control system aims to be deployed at all major traffic intersections across Dubai by the first half of 2026.

Hussain Al Banna, the CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency at the RTA, emphasized the Authority's goal to become a global leader in providing convenient and sustainable mobility options. By reducing traffic congestion and enhancing journey times by 10% to 20%, the RTA strives to improve overall traffic efficiency. Furthermore, the updated system will prioritize specific vehicle categories, including public transport and emergency vehicles, for smoother traffic flow and enhanced safety measures.

By employing cutting-edge technologies, such as AI, the RTA remains committed to establishing Dubai as a frontrunner in intelligent transportation solutions. Through the integration of smart technologies in traffic management, the city aims to enhance its status as one of the smartest and most sustainable urban centers worldwide.
