Consumer Concerns Over Ramadan Marketing Practices

Consumers in the UAE are critical of marketing practices during Ramadan sales, which push bulk purchases that might not suit their actual needs. Calls for better individual discounts are growing.

Consumer Concerns Over Ramadan Marketing Practices

Many users claim that some marketing practices employed by certain retailers diminish the value of advertising offers during Ramadan. According to them, offers on 'bundled products' or larger volumes are only suitable for large families. Users express dissatisfaction that to receive discounts, they have to purchase items exceeding their actual needs. They call on retailers to reduce such practices and suggest direct discounts on individual products in standard volumes.

Experts in different retail, on the other hand, argue that such offers fall within the policy of diversity of proposed items and marketing strategies of retail points and suppliers. Supermarkets offer a variety of promotions, and customers can choose what suits their needs.

One of the users, Mahmud Tabit, noted: "Certain retail points use marketing practices that diminish the value of their advertising offers during Ramadan, limiting opportunities for consumers." He added that some stores suggest buying three or more units of a product to receive a discount, forcing consumers to buy more than they actually need to take advantage of the promotion.

Another user, Khani Abd al-Rahman, pointed out that the requirement to purchase a certain quantity of products or larger volumes to obtain discounts reduces their appeal, especially when stores offer trials of products in larger quantities.

Experts argue that different points offer such promotions to increase sales and offload products. Ramadan is a period of heightened consumer demand, and for many stores, this is an opportunity to boost sales through similar discount offers.
