The global price index for agricultural commodities rose in February due to increased prices for sugar, dairy products, and vegetable oils. This indicates a rise in prices for key food products consumed worldwide.
According to a published report, the index tracking changes in prices in the global agricultural market increased last month, marking the third consecutive month of rising food prices. In particular, prices for sugar increased by a certain percentage, demonstrating a rise for the sixth consecutive month.
In addition to sugar, prices for dairy products also increased due to rising demand, while prices for vegetable oils demonstrate stable growth. These changes may lead to reduced access to food for vulnerable population groups in various countries.
Representatives of organizations engaged in agricultural safety expressed concern about the increase in prices for key food products and underscored the necessity of adopting measures to mitigate the impact of these changes on consumers, especially those living in conditions of limited opportunities.
