
The company "Lodging Econometrics" reported that the number of hotel projects in the construction and planning stages in Dubai reached 52 projects with a total of 14,500 rooms by the end of last year. According to this company, the number of hotel projects at various stages of development across the entire Middle East amounted to 95 objects with a total of around 26,000 rooms during the same period.
In the report on trends in hotel construction in the fourth quarter of 2024 for the region of the Middle East, the company noted that the total number of construction projects in the region by the end of the fourth quarter of last year reached 619 projects, including over 155,000 rooms. The region continues to demonstrate sustainable growth with an increase of 2% per year in projects and 6% per year in rooms.
Projects that are planned to start construction in the next 12 months noted a significant increase, with a rise of 42% year-to-year in projects and 61% year-to-year in rooms. The number of hotel rooms available in Dubai at the end of December last year was 154,016 rooms in 832 objects compared to 150,291 rooms in 821 objects in 2023.
Dubai surpasses major cities like New York, Bangkok, Paris, and Singapore in terms of the number of hotel rooms, according to research by the consulting firm "STR", which specializes in hotel industry research and consulting. The hotel market in Dubai is expected to show the highest occupancy rates for the entire summer of 2024, despite the introduction of approximately 46,500 additional hotel rooms between 2017 and 2024.
