The United Arab Emirates, represented by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, has joined the International Competition Network. The goal of this move is to enhance integration into the global system, leverage the latest expertise and advanced practices, and enforce them. The UAE's accession to the International Competition Network, which includes 140 regulatory authorities and bodies worldwide, is an extension of national efforts to develop the legal framework and policies related to protecting and regulating competition. This work involved issuing Federal Law No. 36 of 2023 on the Regulation of Competition, which provides a proactive and flexible framework to ensure market fairness and prevent monopolistic practices. It also includes a decision by the Council of Ministers regarding the thresholds and controls related to the application of the law.
