Experts and specialists in the food and packaging sectors have stated that trends towards digital transformation and the adoption of artificial intelligence are significantly supporting the expansion of sustainability plans across all industries related to food production. They noted that Dubai and the UAE have been pioneers in digital transformation and the application of sustainability in these fields.

They mentioned that markets in the UAE are witnessing a growth in demand for sustainable packaging for food products at rates ranging between 20% and 25%. The main challenges facing the application of digital transformation and sustainability in food-related industries are the high cost of using sustainable technologies and manufacturing tools, and a lack of awareness among some about the feasibility of these applications.

Details: Babar Hussein, a Senior Sales Manager at "Khaleej Linx," stated: "Markets in the UAE are rapidly transitioning towards applying digital transformation in sectors related to the food industry and implementing artificial intelligence technologies, which in turn supports the expansion of sustainability plans in these sectors."

He added that "applying digital transformation and artificial intelligence improves production processes, reduces waste of raw materials and losses during production, and also supports the mechanisms for manufacturing materials used in sustainable packaging, which rely heavily on these technologies."

Hussein clarified that "markets in the UAE, according to market indicators, are experiencing an annual growth in demand for sustainable packaging for food products reaching up to 25%, especially driven by the activity and momentum of the business, tourism, and hospitality sectors."

In turn, Samir Ahmed, Marketing Director at "Biopipro," said: "Digital transformation and artificial intelligence, with the development of these technologies, greatly support the application of sustainability plans in food-related sectors, whether by significantly reducing raw material waste compared to traditional production processes, or by manufacturing materials for sustainable food packaging, which in turn heavily depend on advanced technologies to adapt sustainable raw materials into innovative forms that resemble products made from other materials."

He added that "the annual growth rates observed in market indicators for demand on sales of sustainable packaging for food products range between 15% and 20%."

Shyam Parkash, General Manager and Business Development Director at "Hot Pack," considered that "Dubai and the UAE have been pioneers in applying digital transformation systems and adopting artificial intelligence in food-related industrial sectors, which in turn has supported the expansion of applying sustainability plans in these areas in general, making local markets a regional center for showcasing the latest such systems through the (Gulfood) exhibition platform."

He added that "markets in the UAE are witnessing a growing annual demand for sustainable packaging for food products, which is one of the most prominent means of applying sustainability in the food industry sector."

He pointed out that "the main challenges facing the use of artificial intelligence and the application of sustainability plans are the high costs required to implement these systems in factories, in addition to a lack of awareness among some manufacturers or traders, as high costs will also apply to the goods related to these systems when sold to traders."

Tony Dash, Managing Director of "Infolik," indicated that "the trend towards more effective sustainability in food-related industrial sectors has become largely dependent on digital transformation and the use of artificial intelligence, which in turn faces challenges of the high cost of using these relatively new technologies in the markets and the level of awareness of the importance of their use."
