According to experts, rebar consumption in the UAE reached 5.5 million tons in early 2025, a 40% increase from last year. The growth is driven by large-scale real estate and infrastructure projects.

The CEO of Commercial Affairs for Emsteel steel production group, Michael Reyon, stated that "the consumption volume of rebar in the UAE markets since the beginning of this year reached 5.5 million tons, according to market study estimates." In his statements to 'Emirates Today' on the sidelines of the Middle East Iron and Steel Conference 2025, which was held in Dubai over three days and concludes today, he pointed out that "the consumption and demand for rebar in the UAE markets have increased at exceptionally high rates, recording a growth of 40% compared to last year, while the consumption volume in the country was estimated at about 2.5 million tons during the Corona pandemic period." He added that "the value of the rebar market in the UAE has reached four billion dollars since the beginning of this year, according to market indicators," noting that "the significant growth in real estate projects in local markets, in addition to ongoing infrastructure development projects and the establishment of large commercial and industrial projects, has greatly boosted the demand for rebar products at large rates, directing large production quantities to meet the needs of the local market." He explained that "2025 is considered one of the highest in terms of demand and consumption of rebar in the history of the UAE markets." He said that "the export volume of steel products in general, including rebar or other products, currently accounts for 20% of the production volume, while 80% of the production is directed to the local market, amidst the increasing demand for products, supported by new real estate projects being launched in the markets." For his part, the CEO of Diasab company, Jakim Halmberg, said that "large real estate projects in the UAE markets led the demand in the Middle East region for rebar products, with it recording exceptionally high growth rates in demand for these products to meet the needs of the local market." He indicated that "estimates of the growth in demand for rebar in the UAE markets are estimated at about 30 and 40% during the current year, and it is expected to continue at varying rates over the next two years."
