Dubai Airports is considering removing the check-in requirement for travelers carrying only hand baggage, aiming to create a faster and more seamless airport experience, CEO Paul Griffiths said. Griffiths emphasized that time is the most valuable commodity for passengers. "We're trying to create a completely frictionless experience." Dubai Airports has already replaced traditional immigration checks with facial recognition cameras and is working with security authorities to streamline procedures while maintaining safety. The next step, Griffiths said, is to remove check-in for hand-baggage-only travelers, allowing them to bypass traditional counters and move through the airport more efficiently. "This approach respects our customers' time and creates a much quicker flow," Griffiths explained. He noted that traditional airport procedures, standing in line for check-in, attaching luggage tags, queuing for immigration, and undergoing security checks, can be cumbersome and intrusive. "There's nothing more intrusive than airport security in some airports," Griffiths said. "We live in a very exciting age where it's possible to use technology and processes to make life simpler for people⦠no queues and red lines. If we can get four times the number of people through the same space in one quarter of the time, we've got four times the capacity without building anything."
