Emirates Provides Tips for December Travel in Dubai

Emirates urges customers to plan ahead for December travel due to expected high passenger volume and offers five tips to speed up airport processes at Dubai International.

Emirates Provides Tips for December Travel in Dubai

Emirates has urged all its customers to plan their travel in advance for December, anticipating a significant surge in travel volume throughout the month. This is due to the start of the winter tourism season, coinciding with numerous local events and holidays, and an adjustment to the academic calendar by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which allows for an extended school holiday for most of December. The airline has provided five tips to minimize waiting times at Dubai International Airport in December.

  1. Arrive at the Airport Early Emirates advises its customers to be at the airport in December at least three hours before their flight's departure time to complete check-in procedures and reach the correct boarding gate at least one hour before the flight.

  2. Download the Emirates App and Check-in Online Emirates customers can download the Emirates app to easily access flight details on their mobile phones, complete check-in up to 48 hours before departure, and receive a digital boarding pass for most destinations. Passengers can also check in and drop off their baggage for free, with a maximum of 24 hours and a minimum of 4 hours before the flight, and enjoy free parking. Every traveler (including children) will earn 2,500 Skywards miles when checking in between December 15 and January 15, meaning a family of four can earn 10,000 miles.

  3. Complete Procedures at Designated Locations Customers can complete check-in and baggage drop-off at the Emirates Travel Mall or at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), allowing them to head straight to the immigration area on their travel day. Customers in Dubai and Sharjah can also opt for the at-home check-in service, where Emirates staff handles the process at the customer's home, hotel, or office and transports the luggage to the airport.

  4. Drop Baggage at the Airport 24 Hours in Advance and Use At-Home Check-in Emirates customers can save space in their cars and reduce tasks on the day of travel by dropping off their baggage at the airport for free the night before their flight. The at-home check-in service is complimentary for First Class customers and Emirates Skywards Platinum members.

  5. Ensure Baggage Compliance with Emirates Requirements Emirates urges its customers to pay close attention when packing their luggage and to adhere to the dangerous goods policy. Key new guidelines state that only one power unit with a capacity not exceeding 100 Wh is allowed, and its capacity must be clearly marked on the device. Portable batteries must be carried in a pocket or in the cabin baggage and are not permitted in checked luggage. Smart luggage is only allowed in the cabin if the battery is removable, switched off, and complies with cabin baggage size and weight limits. Furthermore, e-cigarettes, including e-cigars, e-pipes, and personal vaporizers with batteries, must be carried safely in cabin baggage to prevent accidental activation. The store operates from 8 AM to 10 PM, with hours extended until midnight from December 15 to January 15. Customers can also pre-complete check-in procedures at the Emirates office in Ajman, which is open 24 hours a day, located at the Ajman Central Bus Station, up to 24 hours and as little as 4 hours before departure.
