UAEV, the first government-owned electric vehicle charging network in the United Arab Emirates, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chinese company Otell to develop next-generation smart charging and energy management solutions across the country. The agreement was signed during a visit by a UAEV delegation to Otell's headquarters in the Chinese city of Shenzhen. This step is a significant move towards building a future-ready smart energy ecosystem that enhances reliability, efficiency, and long-term sustainability for electric vehicle users nationwide. Under this partnership, both parties will develop advanced technologies such as V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid), integrated battery energy storage systems, and smart charging platforms designed to suit the country's climate and mobility needs. The joint efforts will also include research, pilot programs, and locally optimized solutions to support the continuous expansion of the national charging network and ensure high performance even in extreme temperatures. With UAEV's expansion of a fast, reliable, and accessible charging network across all seven emirates, these innovations will enhance the flexibility of its operational system and improve overall energy efficiency. Through this partnership, Otell will provide leading-edge technological capabilities, including DC fast-charging systems tested in temperatures exceeding 55°C, advanced remote maintenance capabilities, and ongoing R&D in power units, cloud platforms, and AI-powered diagnostic solutions. The CEO of UAEV, Ali Al Dhurais, stated: "This partnership brings us one step closer to achieving our goal of developing the next generation of smart charging and energy management solutions in the UAE." He added: "We look forward to continuing to work with our partners to develop innovative solutions that contribute to achieving the nation's goals in clean energy and electric mobility." In turn, Milly Dee, Vice President of Otell, said: "This partnership reaffirms our strong commitment to supporting the national infrastructure through advanced and reliable technologies that enhance the system's efficiency and effectiveness."
