The banking sector in the UAE is currently witnessing a significant increase in individuals' interest in investing in sukuks, following the 'Individual Sukuks' initiative launched by the Ministry of Finance. The initiative aims to enhance the participation of individual investors in government treasury sukuks that comply with Islamic law. These sukuks are characterized by investment flexibility in the form of fractionalized government Islamic treasury bonds with small financial denominations. The minimum investment amount is 4,000 dirhams, with a maximum of 28,000 dirhams per transaction. Multiple transactions can be conducted through some participating banks, offering returns of up to 3.66%. Investments can be made via the digital channels of the banks participating in the initiative within the country.
