The building, which now houses the museum, was constructed in 1957. Initially, it comprised a ground floor with commercial shops and an upper floor known as the "Agency" or "Khan," designated as residential quarters for traders. In the same year, Dubai Municipality's offices relocated to this building, becoming its main headquarters and handling its administrative and service functions until 1964 when the administration moved to a new building on Al Maktoum Street. In 1999, the building underwent a comprehensive restoration supervised by the Architectural Heritage and Archaeology Department to preserve its historical character and transform it into a museum narrating Dubai Municipality's story. The museum was officially inaugurated in 2006, becoming a historical education center that showcases the city's evolution through a rich collection of documents, photographs, paintings, and tools used in municipal work, allowing visitors to understand the evolution of public services and the municipality's administrative structure over time. Covering an area of 166 square meters, the museum features four main halls, each dedicated to a significant aspect of Dubai Municipality's history. The first hall, the Municipal Council Hall, displays the council's founding history and its role in city development. The Organizational Structure Hall clarifies the municipality's administrative framework over time, while the Dubai Municipality Projects Hall focuses on the municipality's tangible achievements in public services and infrastructure. The Dubai Municipality Management Hall highlights the evolution of administration and key regulatory decisions made by the municipality since its inception. The project affirms the brand's commitment to delivering upscale, high-value investments without compromising ownership accessibility.
