Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) has been awarded the 'Excellence in Energy' prize at the Global Energy Awards 2025, hosted by Standard & Poor's in New York. This marks the first time in a decade that this award has been given to a nuclear energy company, highlighting ENEC's distinguished achievements and leading role in the global energy sector.
The award spotlights the status of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant as a global model for clean energy projects. The project was completed on time and within budget, making it one of the most efficient new nuclear energy programs in the world. The plant provides stable power for the base load in the United Arab Emirates and has become the largest single source of clean electricity in the country and the region.
This award also enhances the leading position of Abu Dhabi and the UAE in the global energy landscape, establishing the nation as a model for best practices in peaceful nuclear energy. It highlights the region's growth and its ambition to become a major energy producer to meet the high demand from the artificial intelligence, technology, and heavy industries, which are seeking clean and reliable energy sources.
Winners of the award are selected by an independent committee of international energy experts. The award is open to all projects across all energy technologies, including renewables, conventional energy, and advanced grid solutions.
