In 2025, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) achieved a significant breakthrough that enhances the emirate's transition to clean energy. This was accomplished by bringing 1000 megawatts of clean power generation capacity online as part of the sixth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which has a total capacity of 1800 megawatts. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, stated: "This achievement reflects the Authority's commitment to achieving the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the State, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, in accelerating the transition to renewable energy sources and supporting Dubai's status as a global leader in sustainability and innovation in the energy sector." He added that this achievement aligns with the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 strategy and Dubai's Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to provide 100% of Dubai's energy from clean sources by mid-century, thereby enhancing the emirate's position as a global model for transitioning to a green economy based on sustainability and innovation. Al Tayer also indicated in a statement issued by the Authority yesterday that this achievement marks a significant milestone in the rapid expansion of renewable energy projects being implemented by the Authority, reflecting its commitment to increasing reliance on clean energy sources and supporting the readiness of Dubai's energy system to meet population and economic growth requirements, as well as solidifying a sustainable energy production model based on innovation and operational efficiency.
