Dubai Hosts International Coffee Auction

The Dubai Coffee Auction, organized by the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), concluded with specialty coffee lots achieving a total value of $70,000. The auction brought together producers from 13 countries, marking the widest geographical coverage ever recorded for a single coffee auction. This event, held as part of the Dubai Coffee World 2026 exhibition, featured significant international participation, with 1,364 bids submitted by buyers from global specialty coffee markets. In a first for the global coffee market, the auction included the first international sale of coffee from mainland United States, establishing a new price benchmark for coffee from the American continent. This highlights the platform's crucial role in expanding producer discovery and providing a transparent, organized market for reliable price discovery and direct market access. Notably, a Bolivian specialty coffee lot was sold at $386 per kilogram, the second-highest price ever for Bolivian coffee at auction, confirming the continued international demand for high-quality, traceable coffee offered through transparent and competitive platforms. «With the global coffee market exceeding $130 billion and the share of specialty coffee consumption continuing to grow, access to reliable price discovery mechanisms is no longer a choice but a necessity to ensure the long-term sustainability of this sector,» said Ahmed Hamza, Executive Director of DMCC's Free Zone.
