Dubai: A Model for Advanced Airport Technology

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates airline, stated that Dubai serves as an advanced model in utilizing technology to facilitate passenger flow. He mentioned that the emirate has managed to implement advanced solutions that allow passengers to travel to and from Dubai without any intervention, thanks to the use of biometric systems and modern technological platforms. Clark said during a session at the World Government Summit: "We have been testing these systems in Dubai for years, and we are moving forward at a rapid pace." He pointed out that Dubai's strength lies in the consensus among stakeholders on developing airport infrastructure and operational systems. Clark confirmed that today's available technology can simplify check-in procedures, passport control, and central inspection, making the travel experience smoother and more efficient. He also noted that challenges in airports often result from misaligned agendas among local entities such as police, security, and airport management. However, he emphasized that "the technology is there, and you can use it to achieve a seamless travel experience." Clark also touched upon travel experiences in European airports. He stressed that the success of implementing these technological solutions does not require waiting for the future, saying: "If we move at the speed we should, there is no reason why these issues cannot be resolved, leveraging the computing power and technologies available today." "We can move people in and out of Dubai without any form of physical intervention, and this model can be implemented in other countries around the world," he added.
