Dubai Joins International Association of Ports and Harbors

The Dubai Ports Authority, a subsidiary of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, has officially joined the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) as a regular member. This step aims to deepen Dubai's presence on influential international platforms in the port industry and enhance its maritime ecosystem in terms of sustainability, efficiency, and flexibility. The membership strengthens the Authority's cooperation and knowledge exchange with the global port community, which includes over 90 countries, and enables participation in the Association's programs and initiatives. These initiatives focus on reducing emissions, energy transition, digital solutions, and data coordination across the maritime supply chain, as well as supporting readiness, risk management, and increasing operational resilience. Ibrahim Al Bulooki, Executive Director of the Dubai Ports Authority, stated that this step is an extension of Dubai's approach to reinforcing its position within the global maritime ecosystem and expanding cooperation and partnerships with international entities. This, in turn, supports the sector's sustainability and improves supply chain efficiency. He explained that joining the IAPH is a significant milestone in the Authority's journey to integrate with the global maritime ecosystem, share best practices, and support its priorities in safety, digital transformation, and sustainability. The membership also allows the Dubai Ports Authority to contribute to the development of international port standards. Al Bulooki added that the step reflects Dubai's commitment to developing safe, efficient, and future-ready port operations according to global best practices. It also enhances the emirate's competitiveness and elevates maritime standards internationally. He noted that the entry opens new avenues for strategic partnerships and joint projects, and boosts the ability of Dubai's ports to keep pace with rapid transformations in global supply chains and adopt smart solutions and advanced technologies. Furthermore, the Dubai Ports Authority oversees three major ports in the emirate: Jebel Ali Port, Hamriyah Port, and Rashid Port, in addition to Dubai World's and Dubai Maritime City. The Authority continues to develop infrastructure, streamline operations, enhance control and inspection systems, and update services in line with global best practices. This move aligns with Dubai's vision to strengthen its ports' role as engines of growth and trade, and as advanced centers of competitiveness, sustainability, and innovation through international partnerships that support adopting standards and solutions that enhance operational efficiency and sectoral resilience.
