This step is part of the corporation's expansion strategy, which aims to keep pace with the rapid urban growth in the emirate of Dubai and the resulting increasing demand for sustainable district cooling services. Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest provider of district cooling services, has announced the signing of a design contract for its fifth district cooling station in the Dubai Creek Harbour area. The project, which has already received two Guinness World Records certificates, will have a cooling capacity of up to 44,000 tons. Construction work is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
