UAE Minister Confirms Stable Food Supplies and Price Drops

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, confirmed the stability of food supplies in the United Arab Emirates. He noted that the markets for vegetables and fruits are experiencing a large surplus in supply, accompanied by a noticeable drop in prices. The Minister attributed this decline to the continuous flow of new shipments of agricultural products from various countries around the world, expecting the price decline to continue in the coming days with the arrival of additional supplies to the markets.

His statements came on the sidelines of a field tour he conducted today at the vegetables and fruits market in the Al Awir area of Dubai. The tour aimed primarily to closely monitor market movements, observe price levels, and assess the availability of food products, as well as to confirm the market's capacity and full readiness to meet all of the country's needs for goods.

The Minister explained that the overall scene clearly reflects a large abundance of crops coming from all over the world, pointing out that prices have recorded a clear decline, with low prices observed for some goods that had not been recorded just a few days prior. During his field tour, the Minister of Economy and Tourism monitored the unloading processes of some new food shipments, listening to traders' confirmations of the continuation of unloading operations daily and in the coming days.

Traders indicated that the entry of these additional shipments of essential foodstuffs will directly contribute to enhancing the volume of supply in the markets, which in turn supports the continuation of the downward price curve in favor of the consumer.

In conclusion, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri issued a direct call to consumers to exercise caution when purchasing and to limit themselves to acquiring their actual needs, warning against excessive stockpiling of goods. He emphasized that products are available and accessible to everyone and that there is no shortage of supplies, while also confirming that the Ministry of Economy continues to perform its role by closely monitoring market conditions, openly listening to all suggestions and complaints, and working to overcome any challenges consumers may face.
