WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is introducing a premium paid subscription called "WhatsApp Plus" that will offer many features to its subscribers. This subscription will be completely optional, meaning users are not required to subscribe to continue using WhatsApp. Currently in development for both iOS and Android, the "WhatsApp Plus" subscription will offer multiple customization options to change the app's appearance, icon, and colors. It will include 14 new icons and a variety of color options for user interface elements, according to the WhatsApp beta tracking site WABetaInfo. The subscription will also allow users to pin up to 20 conversations instead of the current limit of three, giving them more flexibility to keep their most important chats easily accessible. "WhatsApp Plus" will also feature a set of exclusive ringtones, each with its own unique style, making it easy for users to customize call notifications to their mood. More features are expected to be added to the subscription over time, expanding the customization options for subscribers. For instance, "WhatsApp Plus" users will get access to exclusive stickers not available to free users. All core tools of the app—including sending and receiving messages, making audio and video calls, sharing media, participating in groups, and privacy and security features—will remain fully available to everyone at no cost. WhatsApp has not yet confirmed the pricing for this paid subscription or its official launch date, and features may be adjusted before a wide release.
