Amid rising fuel prices due to the war in the Middle East, Asia is refocusing on coal. This move, contrary to expectations, could have a positive long-term impact on the environment, as it accelerates the adoption of renewable energy sources. Amy Kong, an analyst at 'Zero Carbon Analytics', stated that 'the current oil and gas crisis caused by the war highlights the importance of having domestic energy sources that are not exposed to the global commodity market, as is the case with coal'. She also pointed out that 'countries like Vietnam, which have rapidly increased their share of solar energy production, have a more robust arsenal against rising energy import prices'.
