Sathish Kumar Sivan, the Consul General of India in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, confirmed to the Dubai branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the largest professional body in the UAE, that the Emirates have the courage to challenge uncertainty by strengthening their ties with the international community and will overcome the current situation faster than expected. Sivan told more than 500 accounting professionals attending a meeting in Dubai: "Indians residing here consider the Emirates their homeland. Hardships are not new to Dubai or the Emirates. The country has courageously faced the 2008 global financial crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and has emerged strong from every crisis. This time as well, it will recover faster than some might imagine." He added: "When we wanted to reach out to the community, the first group of professionals that came to our minds were chartered accountants, who have a better understanding of the situation than others." Recently, the Dubai branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India elected a new administrative committee for the 2026–2027 term, led by the new chairman, chartered accountant Rishi Chawla, with support from vice-chairman chartered accountant Amit Khetan, secretary chartered accountant Ashna Mulgavankar, and treasurer chartered accountant Sanjay Jagarani.
