Emirates plans to enhance its cargo capacity by expanding its fleet with additional Boeing 777 freighters, reflecting Dubai's growing stature as a global logistics hub.

Emirates Expands Cargo Fleet to Meet Soaring Demand

Emirates has placed an order for five additional Boeing 777F freighter aircraft, which will be delivered from 2025 to 2026. Along with previous orders, Emirates now has 14 Boeing 777F on order, expecting to receive deliveries from Boeing until the end of 2026. Additionally, Emirates has signed a multi-year lease extension with Dubai Aerospace Enterprise for four Boeing 777F from its current fleet.

According to the investment, Emirates SkyCargo plans to operate 21 Boeing 777 freighters by December 2026, which will significantly expand its current fleet of 11 units. Emirates also continues to invest in converting 10 passenger Boeing 777-300ERs to freighters for further increasing cargo capacity and fleet size.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Airline and Group, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, stated: "We are investing in new freighters to satisfy the surge in demand and provide our customers with even greater flexibility, connectivity, and options for leveraging airfreight opportunities. The demand for Emirates' aviation cargo services is rapidly growing."

Stephanie Pope, President and General Manager of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, noted: "Emirates continues to establish itself as a leader in our industry, and we greatly value the confidence it has shown in the seven freighter variants of Boeing, making them a core part of its global fleet."

Following the introduction of new freighter operations, Emirates SkyCargo will continue to leverage its entire fleet of passenger aircraft to provide fast, reliable, and efficient cargo transport worldwide, offering customers greater flexibility with a mixed fleet of aircraft comprising Boeing 777, 777-F, 747F, A350, and A380.

The Dubai government's plans to expand Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) aim to create the largest cargo hub in the world in the future. This reflects Dubai's growing significance as a preferred and trusted global logistics hub, as well as the success of Emirates SkyCargo's tailored solutions that meet the needs of carriers across diverse industries.
