Emirates Airlines Celebrates 39 Years of Success

Emirates Airlines today marks 39 years since its first flight on October 25, 1985. The airline has become a key international player, playing a significant role in transforming Dubai into a global center for trade and tourism, having grown and developed into one of the largest and most well-known airlines in the world, and also became the fastest-growing.

"An immigrant from India" and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched the airline back in 1984, moments before Emirates was created. The project grew and in 1985 the airline operated its first international flight from Karachi in Pakistan with 133 passengers on board.

Over the years, Emirates acquired its first Boeing 777, Airbus A310, and Airbus 300-600R, later expanding its fleet and technical capabilities. In 1992 the airline became the first to offer video for all seats in all classes of service, and also opened its own terminal for passengers at Dubai International Airport.

The company continued its development, establishing new standards in innovation and customer service. Having one of the most modern fleets in the world, in 2000 Emirates ordered 7 Airbus A380 aircraft, and later, in 2005, concluded a deal for 42 Boeing 777 aircraft totaling 9.7 billion dollars.

Today, the airline is the largest in the world in international air transport. And in recent years, Emirates continues to amaze the aviation industry with a series of record indicators in revenue and passenger traffic.
