In Dubai, five new junctions will be constructed with a total length of 5,000 meters as part of the Raunadbaut Trade Center development project, announced by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Sunday, October 27. The project, costing 696 million dirhams, aims to transform the existing roundabout of the Trade Center into an above-ground intersection to improve traffic flow on the roads in this area. The goal of the project is to connect Sheikh Zayed Road with five main streets: Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Rashid Road, 2nd December Street, Zabeel-Palace Road, and Al Maktab Street.
"This project will enhance the accessibility of the intersection, reduce waiting times from 12 minutes to 90 seconds, and shorten travel time from Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road from six minutes to one minute," noted the Director General and Chairman of the RTA Executive Directors, Matar Al Tayer, adding that the project is part of a broader development plan that also includes the Al Maktab Street development project.
The project anticipates the construction of the following five specific junctions: a dual-lane bridge at an upper level with a total length of 1,000 meters from Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road in the direction of Deira, with an expected capacity of 3,000 transport vehicles per hour; two dual-lane bridges with a total length of 2,000 meters, connecting Sheikh Rashid Road with 2nd December Street with a capacity of 6,000 transport vehicles per hour; and two dual-lane bridges with a total distance of 2,000 meters from Al Majeed Street to 2nd December Street for the connection between Al Maktab Street and 2nd December Street with a capacity of 6,000 transport vehicles per hour.
"The project serves various key locations, including DWTC..., and DIFC..., as well as areas such as Zabeel, Al Satwa, Karama, Jafiliya, and Manhal, positively impacting more than a million residents and visitors," concluded Matar Al Tayer.
