Consumers Raise Concerns Over Cashback Offers in UAE

Consumers in the UAE are expressing frustration over cashback offers from stores that claim to provide significant refunds. Many find that the terms of these offers limit their choices, forcing them to buy items they don't need, thus questioning the authenticity of these promotions.

Consumers Raise Concerns Over Cashback Offers in UAE

Many consumers expressed concern about the conditions for the return of money at certain retail points, which have requirements in various emirates of the country. According to them, promotions promise a refund of up to half of the spent amount upon making purchases for a certain amount. However, the consumers claim that the return conditions imposed by the stores make it inconvenient for them. They feel forced to buy specific products only from this particular store, even though they do not need them, and most of them become outdated.

Consumers believe that this constitutes deception, stating the need for a clear explanation of the essence of the monetary return. They note that such proposals were a key factor in choosing this store for purchases. Store representatives assert that the money return policy is widespread and popular among consumers due to high discounts and mutual benefits for all parties.

One of the consumers, Saif Rashid, shared that a well-known home appliance store announced a cash return equivalent to half of the spent amount, provided the minimum purchase is 2000 dirhams. However, the consumer discovered that instead of money, he had to choose goods specified by the same store that turned out to be unnecessary. Similar cases were also confirmed by other buyers who faced the same conditions in other stores.

Another consumer, Amina Sabri, recounted an experience related to a furniture store, artificially compelling buyers. According to Amina, the return conditions forced her to buy items she did not need, and in most cases, they turned out to be outdated models, creating a generally senseless and deceptive proposal.

The store representative, in turn, explained that the products offered in exchange for a cash return are additions to existing purchases and can be valuable. He emphasized that many consumers benefit from such a system and the requirement for a clear explanation of the proposed return should be their primary task.
