
The administration of intellectual property, subordinate to the Dubai Consumer Protection Fund, conducted 113 planned inspections to detect violations of consumer goods marks during the first nine months of the current year. According to the words of the representative of the intellectual property administration, their competence includes hearing complaints about infringements of trademarks, commercial agencies, combating commercial fraud, and monitoring compliance with the laws against fraudulent goods.
Inspectors of the intellectual property administration conduct no less than 1500 checks monthly to ensure that stores do not sell counterfeit goods and adhere to laws aimed at preventing fraud and trademark violations. The director of the administration expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance by commercial establishments with established standards.
He noted that some markets may be dealing with unscrupulous practices, which requires ongoing control and the adoption of accompanying measures. He particularly emphasized the importance of purchases from stores selling counterfeit goods, especially in tourist areas, and urged consumers to file complaints and contact the administration in case of necessity.
Regarding planned inspections, the intellectual property administration cooperates with the Dubai Police, including the management of economic crimes, and continuously coordinates its actions with the Ministry of Economy. It also interacts with other branches of the Dubai Consumer Protection Fund for the implementation of informational activities and educational seminars for entrepreneurs.
