Dubai International Airport officially became the leader of the global aviation industry in terms of total capacity in January of the current year, according to the monthly report published by the international agency OAG, specializing in the data of given airports and airlines. During this period, Dubai Airport registered about 5.3 million planned seats on international flights (10.6 million in both directions), which surpassed the figures of the previous year by 440 thousand seats.

In terms of available seats, Dubai Airport also confirmed its title as the busiest international airport in the world, serving 5.3 million passengers, with a growth of 5% compared to January 2024. It also maintains its position as a major transit hub for international transfers.

Dubai Airport has emerged as a competitor to the American airport Hartford-Jackson in Atlanta by January 2025, surpassing its American competitor by 450 thousand seats. In second place is Narita Airport in Tokyo with a total capacity of 4.7 million seats.

It is worth noting that Dubai Airport continues its successes compared to other global aviation centers, exceeding indicators for the number of planned seats for all months of 2024 to more than 10 million seats (120 million in both directions), which constitutes an absolute record. Thus, the total number of planned seats at Dubai Airport for 2024 exceeded 60 million, reflecting its stable growth and popularity among passengers. For the first nine months of 2023, the airport serviced 68.6 million passengers with a growth of 6.3% compared to the corresponding period of 2023, while during the third quarter of 2023 alone, 23.7 million passengers were processed.
