One of the most famous cultural parks in the world - Global Village - announced the "Hag Al Laila" ceremony. This is a traditional, festive occasion, symbolizing the beginning of the lunar month leading to the arrival of the blessed month of Ramadan. Remembering the festive aspects, the event offers children a unique educational opportunity to interact with the spiritual, intangible, and material heritage of the UAE in a manner that corresponds to its importance.
Children can join in singing traditional songs, collecting sweet packets, so that this festive event remains forever in their memories and is associated with what they learned from this ancient heritage. "Hag Al Laila" historically highlights important contributions to the strengthening of family and community bonds and promoting the values of social collaboration and gratitude for life’s gifts.
The event usually takes place on the night of the 15th day of the month of Sha'ban according to the Hijri calendar, and it symbolizes the joy in anticipation of the holy month of Ramadan, reflecting the values of giving, goodness, and generosity. For the first time, in Global Village, the tradition of "Hag Al Laila" will be revived over four days from February 13 to 16.
The event will include traditional Arab decorations, such as palm fronds, lanterns, and also Fanar and Sidenya in the national style. To help visitors feel as if they have returned to the past and immersed themselves in the atmosphere, women in traditional dress will welcome children, sharing folk stories, songs, and distributing sweets associated with "Hag Al Laila".
The activities are tailored to the theme of "Year of Community" in the UAE, showcasing the festive culture and traditions of the country and beyond its borders. In addition, Global Village organizes interactive entertainment for families and children, including meetings with the park's famous characters and opportunities to take photos with them, while enjoying sweet treats.
The new initiative of the "Hag Al Laila" festival in Global Village presents itself as an original cultural experience, rooted in the very essence of the UAE and its ancient traditions. Creative workshops and storytelling from antiquity will be available for visitors, while interesting interactions with park characters and photo sessions with them will also be offered.
