The committee responsible for organizing the "Nad Al Sheba Sports Festival" held a coordinating meeting to discuss the preparations for the 12th annual sports campaign, initiated and supported by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Vice-President of the UAE, and Minister of Defense. The meeting took place at the direction of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council.
The head of the organizing committee and general secretary of the Dubai Sports Council, Saeed Harb, chaired the meeting, attended by the deputy chairman of the committee, Nasser Aman Al-Rahma, and the committee members: Dr. Abdulhamid Al-Tar, Hassan Al-Mazrouei, Saleh Al-Marzuqi, Ali Omar, Khalid Al-Awar, Adel Al-Bunay, and Issam Al-Futaini.
During the meeting, plans for the preparation of committees and organizing groups and logistical measures for the start of the competitive campaign were discussed, which will take place during the holy month of Ramadan and will include 11 sports disciplines, including Olympic and community types, such as volleyball, badminton, jiu-jitsu, fencing, basketball on wheelchair, running, cycling, canoeing, overcoming obstacles, as well as two new sports types: archery and sprinting.
Adel Al-Bunay noted that the increase in the number of sports disciplines this year corresponds to the leading sports campaign’s role and its major objectives, contributing to the spread and development of various sports types and enhancing the level of their practitioners through annual competitions.
He emphasized that the committee works according to a plan for the implementation of preparations and logistical measures for the successful organization of the campaign, which will take place in Nad Al Sheba, and will also be held there.
