Critics and Photographers Gather at the International Exposure Festival

From February 20 to 26, the 9th International Expojour Photography Exhibition will take place, featuring works by leading photojournalists. Their objects captured key moments in human history, transforming snapshots into live testimonies of grand changes from conflict zones to surrounding environments facing existential threats.

Festival attendees will have the opportunity to explore impactful exhibitions and hear the stories of photographers that have been at the center of events, passing to the world facts that have altered the course of history.

At the Expojour exhibition, there will be individual exhibitions, dedicated to giving photographers a platform to present their lives dedicated to the transmission of truth. One of the most prominent participants will be renowned photographer James Nachtwey, showcasing his work "Geography of War (Helmand, Afghanistan, 2010)", where he reveals the prices of preceding lines of global conflicts, proposing a visual understanding of the complexities of war and their deep humanitarian impact.

Sir Don McCullin in his exhibition "Between Life and Death" demonstrates the results of decades of work documenting conflicts and human suffering, illustrating the stark reality and importance of imagery for conveying the truth.

The exhibition "Women" by photographer Sintiia Kanner highlights the plight of women in conflict zones, focusing on the path of women's migration from Eritrea to Ethiopia between 2017 and 2020, fleeing from persecution.

Veronique De Villiers showcases her unique ability to capture vibrant moments in conflict zones, offering a non-standard perspective on war in the exhibition "Pink Among Black".

The Expojour 2025 program includes many inspiring dialogues discussing the challenges facing photojournalism, including a presentation titled "Under the Objectivity of Truth", where participating photojournalists discuss the role of photojournalism in shaping public opinion.

Liz Arango reveals the significant role of imagery in attracting attention to societal difficulties, confronting issues of human security and poor nutrition in the piece "Photography of Hunger", while the photograph by Pascal Maitre discusses the influence of color in photojournalism on the viewer's perception.

The festival also features a master class titled "How to Take the Best Shots with Your Smartphone", conducted by photography experts to help participants utilize the potential of their smartphones for documenting moments.

In tribute, photographer Salim Amin will present a collection of works by his late father, photojournalist Mohamed Amin, who captured key moments in the history of the African continent, illuminating political and social issues of his time.
